Another New Year
Happy New Year! The start of a new year is always interesting. It is full of people making resolutions and plans and generally hoping for the best. Some had awful years last year and are just hoping and praying for something better, while others had great years and are hoping for more of the same. Regardless, new years tend to involve a mix of anticipation, excitement, and anxiety. For some, there could already be life events and changes that you already know about while others may be trying to get a break in the monotony or are thankful they are finally feeling settled. However, the fact remains, for all of us, that although we may have some expectations; we don’t know exactly what this year will hold and that can be both exciting and scary.
It can be easy to get busy this time of year with trying to do things on our own that we think will ensure a better year for us like getting healthy, managing our finances better, making changes, etc. These things are good to do, but ultimately there are a lot of things that occur that are out of our control. However, there are some things that we do know and that is that God will always be at our side regardless of what happens and that we can always trust in Him. We can also know that there will always be something to be thankful for if we look for it because we will always have God’s unfailing love, forgiveness, comfort, and care even if other things start to feel like they are falling apart. I don’t know what this year will hold for you, but I pray that you will see blessings and thank God for them and that you will feel his comfort, love, and forgiveness in difficult times. Most of all, I pray that you will be able to trust in Him and seek Him first before you get busy trying to do everything on your own without Him.
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” – Matthew 6:33
